Jules Cluzel has given himself a boost ahead of qualifying for the penultimate round of the 2012 World Supersport Championship at Portimao after pacing FP2 with his fastest lap of the weekend.

Though still a tenth down on Sam Lowes's provisional pole-setting time from Q1, Cluzel's lap of 1min 46.127secs was enough to edge out Honda counterparts Broc Parkes and Lowes in FP2.

The trio led a pair of Kawasakis, with Fabien Foret getting the better of Sheridan Morais, while Massimo Roccoli shrugged off a crash aboard the PATA by Martini Yamaha to set the sixth fastest time.

A fairly close session with each of the top ten dipping into the 1min 46secs bracket, Roberto Tamburini was seventh fastest, ahead of Ronan Quarmby, Portimao newcomer Gabor Talmacsi and championship leader Kenan Sofuoglu.
