Superkarts to debut at Festival of Speed
Superkarts will make their debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in a tribute to the late Martin Hines.

The Karting Legends club will have four of 'Mr Karting's' karts including the Zip Eagle II which he drove during his triumphant comeback in 2002 to win the European championship. It is hoped that Hines's son Luke will drive it up the hill.

Superkarts belonging to Division 1's Kevin Busby and 250 National's Jason Dredge had been on a static display at the Dunlop stand during the 2010 Festival of Speed. Before the recent announcement, the superkart fraternity had been trying for years to get a run up the hill.

The club said on its website: "Martin, just before his death, did discuss with members taking a kart to Goodwood for the Festival of Speed. Little did he know that he would get his wish, but as a tribute run. Many of today's top drivers started their driving days in karts and Martin brought on so many young drivers. Martin is still a force and inspiration behind Karting Legends."

The tribute run is appropriate for this year's theme for the Festival: "Young Guns-Born to Win." As well as the karts, visitors will witness the appearance of quadruple F1 world champion Alain Prost for the first time as well as Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel. Tribute displays to Group C, Lotus and Brabham will be present too.
