Aawww cr*p! This sport has gone down hill since the mid 90s. shortening of stages, no night sections, the end of the safari rally, all for "TV packaging" only for no one to show it properly. They totally alienated the hard core fans.

FIA moneygrubbers!

Wow, WRC is really in the **** now. IMO it has been pretty crap for the last few years, a very very poor shadow of it''s former self. But 09 looks to be an extremely weak year indeed.

Pretty surprised Subaru have pulled of WRC, they really did sell cars off the back of it. With them pulling out, I would say no team in motorsport is safe at the moment.

"Prodrive F1 looks to be more of a possibility?????"

In 2009? I really can't see it happening. There is nothing stopping them running a non-factory supported team in WRC, which they might do

Yesterday Suzuki-now Subaru. The WRC looks to be ailing.Bright spot is Peugeot UK entering the IRC.Could the 2009 IRC be the new WRC? It certainly has the events and the media via Eurosport.

WRC Has been poor for the last few years, once they got rid of the longer rallys, moved the Rally of Great Britain to Wales and Peugeot and then Citroen started dominating. Worst of all was the decision to take full rally coverage off terrestrial and let Channel4 then ITV run piss poor coverage....

Agreed edb.

The micky mouse stages in WRC these days are joke, and most are used more than once meaning there are half as many unique stages in each rally. There are practically no night stages either. Most of the challenge of rallying has been removed.

These withdrawals plus any to be announced coupled with the fact from 2010 (Correct?) the cars are to be to S2000 spec = boredom here I come. The powers have gradually eroded the sport now the financial climate will finish the job.

wow what a bummer ! who''s next ? Toyota''s F1 ? why do they waste so so much money on a never winning team ? Amazing they were so smart over the years in auto production .racing at the top level they have been a major flop ! LeMans ,F1 ,never won in either one .look out I hate to say it we will most likely see much more of this in 4 wheel racing ! 2 wheel seems more stable except in the USA where our top (so called ) series is to be a big privateer club series with all but one manufacturer gone . as with the Daytona group in Grand Am racing no factories ,no spectators .

Yeh, I was only commenting yesterday that I think WRC will be mundane with the cars reduced to S2000 spec (allowed in 2010/mandatory from 2011) theyre gonna be so so slow, S2000 is equal to Group N performance. I think this had a lot to do with Subarus decision to withdraw as their car doesnt lend itself to S2000 ruling, Marcus had obviously walked away from the negotiating table with Prodrive last week to give them any hope of sucess in 2009 by winning a few Rallies for them. Ford are also on a year to year contract too, this is looking gloomy for the WRC. Adapta could yet withdraw due to this decision,Stobart are not yet confirmed, all of a sudden there are lots of drivers on the market too
