Chris - I could'nt agree more with your comments. I was in Ireland last weekend and Matt simply is'nt quick enough and hasn't got what it takes. He was backing off everywhere compared to other drivers. I'm prepared to give anyone a chance and would love to see a young British driver up there fighting for victories, but the sad fact is it will never be Matt. Come on Malcolm, forget the 5 year plan. Get a young British driver in that car who is going to get results. Young drivers like Ogier, Aava and Latvala get one chance and show they have what it takes straight away. Matt has had 50 chances in the WRC so far and has two fourth places to show for it. I'm sick of hearing excuses !

Can anyone please explain why Matt Wilson isn't nominated to score M2 points for Stobart? After three years of "making progress" and "getting experience" I thought this was year he was meant to step up to the plate and start performing.

I believe Matthew Wilson isn't nominated quite simply because Henning Solberg and Urmo Aava are both more likely to finish higher.

Henning and Urmo both have a lot more experience on snow and so not to nominate one of them wouldn't make sense.

Grant, but why then wasn't Matt a nominated points scorer in Ireland?

Chris - Matthew Wilson wasn't nominated in Ireland for same reason really. Urmo Aava and Henning Solberg were both a better bet - although it was probably not quite as clear cut as it is for Norway.

But Wilson has competed in more Rally Ireland's (includes candidate event) than either Solberg or Aava so it can't be experience in Ireland. Solberg dislikes tarmac and it was Aava's first drive in a Focus (compared to Wilson starting in fourth full season in one). Isn't the real answer that Matt isn't very good compared to young drivers (Aava, Atkinson, Ogier, Wilks, Meeke, etc) let alone Loeb and Malcolm has just realised what everyone else has for ages?

Mark, better RSI than your Tourettes Syndrome, RSI isn't neurological.

I wasn't asking why Matt hasn't been kicked out off his dad's team (that would be some achievement of which Matt has few) but rather why he hasn't been nominated for M2 points in either of Ireland or Norway? A shame you haven't been able to help, too busy cursing I imagine.

its all about stats i suppose, statically Urmo and Henning are more likely to win more points for the team like the other guy said, Malcolm has to make some tough decisions on who to put on the points. but the Stobart cars are never going to beat the BP Ford cars as the FIA say (apprently) that they have to have a different setup, but im not 100% sure on that

Matthew Wilson is not nominated for points is because he is not very good.

Certainly not a top 7 driver yet (lets face it Stobart is the 3 best team, behind works ford and citroen). Put him in a JWRC stobart car!

Maybe he is a nice lad, so at least he has that going for him!
