I fully agree with Jean Todt 100%. However, the people who attent the rallies do at least have a second chance to see drivers under the current regs, which can only be a good thing, and if there were no points to be had, I guess there would be no incentive for drivers or teams to carry on. Plus, at present, sponsors, without whom there would be no rallying, still have a chance of some exposure.
Having said all of that, it does seem wrong that you can crash / breakdown and fail to finish stages, yet have another go and possibly get points for it.

Maybe a good compromise is to not allow the drivers in Rally 2 be able to be classified in front of drives that have started the last day of the event or some other predetermined point towards the end of the rally. That way there is a chance to get points using Rally 2, but still allow drivers who have properly completed the rally to have the first chance at points.

The popularity of WRC is already very low and if there is no such a rule it will be even lower. In that case on some rallies, distant from Europe, may happen to finish only 4 or 5 wrc cars for example. This rule should be abandoned when there are many manufacturers and drivers and the championship has good coverage, live coverage etc.

Personally I think superally should be allowed, but no points could be scored.
If I spent 80k of my lottery winnings or otherwise on a weekend it would be an awful shame to have to go home on day 1.

It's a crazy rule, where else can a car that has (possibly) missed virtually a whole days racing be allowed to finish ahead of a car that stops a hundred metres before the finish (like Sainz) but has run the rest of the three days ?
Sure, let them come back in as a test, that way they can get the sponsors air time, and see how competative they are as well, just no points.

I think this years rule is wrong, Events shouldnt decide. There should ALWAYS be Super Rally simply for Sponsors and Crews to get their monies worth, this sport would not exist without Sponsors and Exposure so lets not decide based soley on whats moraly right or wrong

I do however agree that crews that Retire should no longer be able to score points when they Re Join under Rally 2 Rules, it should be only for the benefit of sponsors, Test mileage and allowing the crews to continue to grow their knowledge of the stages

Top Teams would soon have a problem with paying drivers and sponsors wanting a refund if the car retired early due to a mechanical glitch, it really isnt that complicated a decision to make here.

the super rally rule was brought in to boost viewing, due to low number of wrc entries. if half went out on the first day, there would be little to see, hence those that could were allowed to rejoin. however it allowed a wrc car to retire on day one due to an accident, yet re appear the next day in front of cars further down who had kept running. totally mad. the less reckless but slower drivers were being further penalised.
but as for rejoining and not being allowed to score points? that would be equally mad, as there would then be no point in rejoining!
the whole point of rallying is to drive to finish, and if someone cannot do this , for whatever reason, then they dont deserve to join in again.
