The second leg of the Rallye Catalunya today [Saturday] saw a great dual for the lead in the Junior
World Rally Championship category with the Saxos of Andrea Dallavilla and Daniel Sola fighting for the advantage.
The Vic-based driver, Daniel Sola, was hoping to catch up this morning with his main rival Andrea Dallavilla. However, the Young Catalan had to postpone his attack with the cancellation of stage 7 and 8 for safety reasons.
Sola drove very fast in special stage 9, and Andrea Dallavilla, suffering from brake problems lost 19.5 seconds, two third's of his lead.
Daniel Sola also set the fastest time in the next stage [SS10], bringing the margin between the two Saxos to 2.1 seconds.
Ford Puma driver François Duval won the two last stages of the second leg in terms of 'Junior' runners but Sola took the lead and came back to the final service with a 12.3 second advantage on Dallavillla. This position leaves him well placed for the last leg, as it will be run around his home-town.
Meanwhile further done the JWRC field Saxo driver Janne Tuohino solved his electrical problems. The young Finn still following his plan - to get as much experience as possible by finishing the third asphalt rally of his entire career. Tuohino is sixth overall in the Junior category.
After yesterday's punctures, Sven Haaf started last this morning. Despite admitting to driving carefully today, he set several seventh fastest times. However in SS10 disaster struck when he had to change a wheel again and again as a result he lost time. For him, like Tuohino his main target tomorrow is merely to finish.
