Subaru: Lapworth rumours just that

The Subaru World Rally team have confirmed that David Lapworth's position at the team has not changed and that his role remains the same as it was in Sweden two weeks ago.

According to reports by norsk-rally.com, Lapworth had been replaced by Richard Taylor, who is the managing director at the Prodrive ran team. However a spokesperson for the SWRT told Crash.net that there is no truth in the report and that Lapworth is still very much involved.

Indeed it appears the story may have developed after Lapworth's job title was changed - at the start of this year he went from being known as the 'team principal' to the 'performance director'. Taylor meanwhile joined the team at the end of 2005, as the 'managing director', taking over a similar position previously held by Nick Fry, who became the full-time boss at BAR-Honda - now the Honda Racing F1 team - at the end of 2004.
