Kronos Citroen's Colin McRae has gone out of the Rally of Turkey in the final stage, after technical problems.
Although McRae hadn't had the best of events, after being drafted in to stand-in for the injured Sebastien Loeb, his first event in the WRC this year, he had been on course to finish seventh after SS18 - and score 3 points for Kronos in the manufacturers' championship. However the Scot started to experience issues in Chimera 2 and complained of technical difficulties - namely that his Xsara WRC was down on power and that the water temperature was high. Although he got through that test, he then had to stop in the next one, the 28.55 kilometre Olympos test, with early reports suggesting that electrical problems are to blame.
If he can't finish under his own steam now, which looks likely, it will be little point using the SupeRally as he will drop right down the order and will finish outside the top ten – failing to score a single point in either the drivers' or manufacturers' championships.
