Mads Ostberg has secured a programme that will see him take in seven events in the
FIA World Rally Championship this season, beginning next month in Sweden.
The 20-year-old, who competed in the Norwegian Rally Championship in 2006, winning the Rally Hedmarken, as well as taking the runners-up spot on the then WRC candidate event in Norway, will use a Subaru Impreza WRC S10 'closely supported by Prodrive'.
"Prodrive will provide team management and engineering support on event and will work with the Adapta A/S team during testing to maximise the performance of the car," read a statement from Prodrive, who run the works Subaru Impreza's of
Petter Solberg and
Chris Atkinson in the WRC for the Japanese manufacturer.
In addition to the event in Sweden, Ostberg will also do the round one week later in Norway, as well as taking part in Portugal, Sardinia, Greece, Finland and Wales Rally GB.
"Mads is one of the brightest prospects in rallying, fitting perfectly with the Subaru philosophy of developing talented young drivers," said Graham Prew, Prodrive sales manager. "The WRC programme will provide him with a platform to compete with the world's best, including fellow Norwegian and Subaru driver, Petter Solberg."
Ostberg, who won the opening round of the Norweigan Rally Championship recently, the Mountain Rally, has good experience with Subaru having used the Impreza S9 last year. His outing in Sweden in two weeks time will be his fourth in the WRC, having done Sweden, Finland and GB in 2006.
