“In the end the morning went to plan, although I dropped more time than anticipated on SS7 and then made a small mistake on the super-special. On the whole, it was a very positive however.”
Despite Loeb's success though, Citroen team boss, Guy Frequelin knows that day 3 will be tough: "As we saw yesterday, tyres are playing a very important role this weekend. At Citroen Sport, we made two inspired choices and Sébastien and Daniel [Elena – his co-driver] profited from that to bridge the gap and ultimately ease ahead.
“But after 258km of stages, the gap is only 1.7 seconds, which is nothing! The final day features 96km of competitive action and consequently promises to be very close and stressful,” he warned.
