"Our Citroën C4 WRCs are respectively third and fifth this evening. Usually, I wouldn't be at all happy with that, but this time I'm very pleased with the runs of the two Citroën Sport crews. The stages were once again extremely difficult. In addition to being just as slippery as yesterday's tests, they were also fast and an error was possible at any time. Sébastien and Daniel succeeded in finding the same pace that worked so well for them yesterday, though. They are still on the provisional podium and continue to be an ideal position to perhaps claim the title on Sunday. After their hesitant start on Day 1, Dani and Marc managed to up their pace and set some good times given their lack of experience of the Welsh forests. There are four more stages and another day of stress to come tomorrow."
[Speaking in the mid-day service] "The stages weren't as muddy as they were yesterday, but they were faster. There was no fog either, so that made life a little easier for everyone. That said, the surface was just as wet and slippery and, given the speeds they are reaching today, the lack of grip was an even bigger problem. It would have been very easy to make a mistake but Sébastien and Daniel came through the morning unscathed with their Citroën C4 which was again competitive and reliable. Dani and Marc got their day off to a good start on today's slightly easier stages and our two cars are running third and fifth. OK, it's not the sort of situation I would usually be happy with, but I am in this weekend's circumstances. There are still four stages to come today, plus four more tomorrow to achieve our objective."
Richard Taylor [Subaru WRT - managing director]:
"All three Subarus have run reliably today in conditions that have continued to be the toughest we have seen this year. Apart from Chris who, now in sixth place, holds just a 10 second lead over Matthew Wilson, the top ten looks fairly stable. However, with over 100km of very difficult stages to cover tomorrow there is plenty of opportunity for positions to change.”
Malcolm Wilson [Stobart M-Sport Ford WRT - team boss]:
“Sensation of the day has been Jari, fastest on all the gravel stages is a great performance and it really sends out a message as to where he would have been without his problems from yesterday. Matthew has again continued to impress today; he has been in a really close battle with Chris Atkinson and they have never been more than a few seconds apart all day. He has really stepped up a gear and has moved ahead of other drivers of similar experience. Henning has completed today without any problems and all three cars have run faultlessly today without any problems.”
Nobuhiro Tajima [Suzuki WRT - team principal]:
"Once more the conditions on this extremely fast rally have been a really big challenge, but Sebastian and Tomi have kept a calm head and done exactly what we asked of them. By completing all of today's stages, we have gained a lot of set-up information that will be crucial for the future. Tomorrows stages are even longer than today's distance, so we hope to continue our learning programme at the same sort of pace in order to accomplish our mission here in Great Britain. We are not so interested in the stage times, but finishing the rally and gaining information."
