Citroen's number two driver, Daniel Sordo took his sixth points finish in succession on the Wales Rally GB at the weekend when he brought his C4 WRC home in a very solid fifth place.

The Spaniard ran in the points from the off and while he struggled a bit in the fog, he moved up a place and into P5 in the final stage on day 1, when Jari-Matti Latvala had his problems and went out.

From then on he was comfortably in fifth, eventually finishing more than 4 minutes up on Matthew Wilson, who was sixth and just 17 seconds off Petter Solberg in fourth, after the Norwegian struggled a bit on the final day.

"I tried to reach the podium but unfortunately I couldn't," said Dani at the finish and after ending the year fourth in the standings with 65 points on the board.

"Stages shrouded in thick fog weren't the easiest way to start the Wales Rally GB. I managed to find a quick but safe pace, though, and my confidence gradually returned during day 1.

"On Saturday - and Sunday - the fact that there was no fog allowed me loosen up a bit. The stages were difficult but I succeeded in posting some quick times compared to rivals with more experience of these forests.

"Once again, I have been able to measure how important experience is on the loose if you want to be both quick and consistent on a stage from start to finish," he continued.

Sordo also added that he was delighted to see his team-mate, Sebastien Loeb come through to take his fourth drivers' title: "I am so happy for Seb and Daniel [Elena – his co-driver]. I am happy and proud to have been shared this season alongside the new World champions. I couldn't have wished for better teachers or team-mates,” he summed-up.
