The inaugural Royal Automobile Club Motor Sports Association Rally of Scotland, from 19-21 November, will utilise some of the world's most legendary rally stages, it has been confirmed.

Errochty is the first stage of the event that will stir up feelings of nostalgia with aficionados, while allowing those new to rallying the chance to experience a piece of the sport's history and watch some of today's top drivers, including Britain's Kris Meeke and Guy Wilks.

This historic stage has been used in the past as part of the RAC Rally and is still one of the main stages of the Scottish Rally Championship. It contains some extremely fast mileage and emerges by the picturesque shores of Loch Tummel.

The rally then visits Drummond Hill, a stage of the Colin McRae Forest Stages Rally that's very popular with some of motorsport's most influential figures, including boss of the BP Ford Abu Dhabi Team, Malcolm Wilson who has made no secret of the fact that it is his favourite stage in the world. This steep test is not for the faint-hearted.

Day two sees many stages utilised that have not been used competitively for almost two decades.

Stages nine and twelve, Fairy Knowe, have caused plenty of drama in the past, having been the setting of exploits from some of rallying's most iconic figures, including McRae's Jimmy and Colin.

"It is really exciting that we have been able to incorporate a route into this year's debut Rally of Scotland that allows younger rally fans a chance to witness such a world-class event,” said Andrew Coe, chief executive of event organisers International Motor Sport Ltd.

“In addition, we have been able to utilise some of Scotland's most beautiful historic settings, including Blair Castle and Scone Palace, where we will be hosting a one-mile spectator stage on day one.

"What's more, a selection of the stages will be broadcast live on Eurosport for fans to enjoy.

“Stages three and seven at Craigvinean are included in this and here we will be rolling out four kilometres of cable, using six static cameras, 10 onboard cameras, a 60 metre crane and a helicopter to make this possible!"

Paul Bush OBE, chief operating officer at EventScotland, the national events agency, added: "Scotland has a strong heritage in motor sports and continues to build upon that heritage year after year with an exciting portfolio of motor sports events. This will be the first time in twenty years that Scotland has hosted a rally of this size and stature and will be yet another milestone for the nation as a motor sports destination.

"That the rally will take in some of Scotland's most iconic routes will add to the experience of the drivers who will be competing over ground which has been covered by some of the world's greatest rally drivers and the spectators who will get to see competition over stages which are already known to be incredibly challenging."
