Petter Solberg has re-iterated that his WRC programme is on a rally-by-rally basis this year and that he will have to 'fiddle' to get things to work.

Petter put in another strong performance in Poland last weekend, and despite the disadvantage of competing in a 2006-spec Citroen Xsara WRC, he finished fourth, less than 30 seconds off his brother, Henning, who took the final spot on the podium.

It was Hollywood's fifth points' finish from eight events and took his tally to 25 points – the same as BP Ford Abu Dhabi's Jari-Matti Latvala.

However, despite lying joint fifth in the drivers' championship, the Norwegian added that while the addition pre-Greece of new sponsor, Shell, has helped ease his budget problems everything is still far from sorted.

"Well, to tell the truth, the whole year is on a rally-by-rally basis," Solberg explained. "I have a budget for what I am doing. If the budget is empty then it is stopped.

"The car itself is my private car. I am risking using that. Shell has given me one more rally this year. I have to fiddle to get things to work.

"I want to drive. It is really good fun. My wife is sitting back home and working a lot. My team has a lot of passion. I think it's very good. A factory team is a factory team, but we do the best out of the situation we have."

Asked how probable it is that he will be in a different car in Finland, as has been rumoured, the ex-Subaru World Rally Team man noted that it is a possibility – although he is listed as using a Citroen Xsara WRC again on the entry for the 'Finnish Grand Prix'.

"I drove a Mitsubishi last week [before Rally Poland] and a Subaru a few weeks ago. Maybe the Peugeot next week and then a Skoda, perhaps! I aim to pick up a little knowledge here and there. It is fun to drive.

"You never know for Finland. I am in the position where I can drive whatever I want and do the best I can and have fun. Factory teams are different," he summed-up.
