Crash.net’s Top 10 WRC Drivers: Number 8

Sebastien Ogier secures eighth place in your vote to find the top driver from the 2009 WRC season
Having clinched the 2008 JWRC title, Sebastien Ogier was expected to make an impression on the main championship in 2009 after Citroen promoted the young Frenchman to its Junior Team for his first full year at WRC level.

Ogier suffered a difficult start to the season at the wheel of his C4 WRC and managed to pick up just five points from the first six events – retiring in both Cyprus and Italy.

Things took a turn for the better on one of the classic WRC events in Greece however when Ogier mastered tough conditions to finish second to Mikko Hirvonen – his best result of the year.

Although he retired in both Poland and in Great Britain, there were three further points finishes before the end of the year and the Frenchman now needs to match his speed to consistency in 2010.

That season will see Ogier again return with the Citroen Juniors but with a high-profile team-mate in the shape of ex-F1 title winner Kimi Raikkonen.

Statistics:

Team: Citroen Junior Team
Car: Citroen C4 WRC

Championship position: 8th
Points: 24

Events: 12
Victories: 0
Podiums: 1
Points finishes: 6

Agreed, Mr Ploppy. I think he's been consistently improving this season. Also, his teammate made him look good. Novikov made WAY too many mistakes. It was entertaining to watch, true, but man, how many C4s did he destroy this year? :-)

It's gonna be quite a team next year. Ogier coming up strong, and Kimi getting a lot of attention. It's not looking like a B team anymore...
