Ogier to do Rally NZ - but Raikkonen won't?

6 April 2010

The Citroen Junior Team has confirmed that Sebastien Ogier will take in the Rally New Zealand next month.

Ogier had been due to do every event this season, except the one in New Zealand, but now thanks to some additional sponsors the Frenchman will make the trip to do the Auckland-based event.

However at this stage it looks unlikely that 2007 F1 world champion and Citroen Junior team-mate Kimi Raikkonen will join him.

“Yes, it's right, Sebastien [Ogier] will go to New Zealand, but we did not have the last answer for Kimi,” Citroen Junior Team manager, Benoit Nogier told the official WRC website. “We don't think so, probably we will have only one car. I think it's 80 per cent sure that Kimi won't go.

“We took the decision for Sebastien to go to New Zealand after Mexico because of the budget. We did not plan to go before because of the budget, but now we have found some sponsors to go.”

Nogier meanwhile added that Ogier's trip to NZ is not in anyway connected to what happened in Jordan when the Frenchman sacrificed second to run first on the road and help Sebastien Loeb on the final day of the event.

It had been speculated that the extra money was coming from Citroen Sport as a 'thank-you'.
