Monte Carlo returns to the World Rally Championship, Italy also gets a place on the 2012 schedule, but Abu Dhabi is dropped; Britain gets a September slot.
The Rallye Monte Carlo is to return to the
World Rally Championship in 2012, it has been announced today following a meeting of the FIA's World Motor Sport Council in Barcelona, Spain.
Thirteen rounds were confirmed and in addition to Monte Carlo gaining a slot, Italy has also got a date.
There is no room for Abu Dhabi however, which had been included on the provisional schedule back in April – subject to the 'approval of the event business plan and format' [see separate story -

Britain's slot meanwhile, which was also subject to the approval of an event business plan and format a few months ago, is now permanent. The event though moves from being the traditional season closer to a date in September, a position it last held back in 2005.
