Wilson to miss Rally Sweden

Matthew Wilson forced out of Rally Sweden after training accident
Matthew Wilson will miss the second round of the World Rally Championship season in Sweden after suffering a suspected broken ankle in a training fall.

Wilson was fell running in the Lake District when he suffered the fall and was taken to hospital for assessment.

Early indications have suggested a broken left ankle that will rule him out of the Swedish event, with the Go Fast Energy World Rally Team dropping to a single car for the rally as a result.

“It looks as though I've broken and dislocated my left ankle so, unfortunately, that means no Rally Sweden for me,” Wilson said. “I was really looking forward to Sweden.

“We were a lot more prepared for this rally [than we had been for Rallye Monte-Carlo] and we would have been looking for a good result. I'm absolutely gutted.”

Solberg will head into the event fresh from a second place finish on Rally Finnskog,
