Henning vows to 'push hard' in Sweden

7 February 2012

Henning Solberg has vowed to push as hard as possible to secure a top result on the second round of the WRC season in Sweden this weekend.

Solberg will be the sole representative of the Go Fast Energy World Rally Team for the event after Matthew Wilson was ruled out with a broken ankle sustained in a fall while training back in the UK.

The Norwegian endured a trying start to 2012 in Monte Carlo, but will now go into the Swedish round buoyed by a second place finish on Rally Finnskog, where he beat the Ford Fiesta WRC of Mads Ostberg and was just 30 seconds down on winner Mikko Hirvonen despite being in an older Mitsubishi Evo 6.

As a result, hopes are high of a strong run in the Swedish snow with Solberg back at the wheel of his regular Fiesta WRC.

“We're going to 'Go Fast' - flat out,” he said. “This is one of my favourite events and we'll be pushing for a good result.

“I'm really looking forward to the rally. This is like my home event and the fans are always absolutely amazing! There is always such a great atmosphere in the forests. The [Scandinavian] fans are some of the best in the world!

“I've got a really good feeling on snow after [Rally] Finnskog. We got the feeling just right straight away and everything was running well. Hopefully it will be the same next week [at Rally Sweden] and we can push for a really good result.”
