Sandell gets second Prodrive outing

Patrik Sandell to partner Dani Sordo on the fourth round of the WRC season in Portugal
Prodrive has confirmed that Patrik Sandell will once again partner Dani Sordo when the team returns to the World Rally Championship for the fourth round of the season in Portugal.

Sandell joined the team in Sweden and will now partner Sordo for the second time when the WRC returns to Europe after the next round of the year in Mexico – where the Prodrive team won't be present.

Former JWRC title winner Sandell will once again compete in the colours of the Sweden World Rally Team in his second outing in the MINI John Cooper Works WRC and he said he was excited about once again being part of the Prodrive line-up.

“I've done this rally twice before, so I know the roads and have an idea on what awaits me,” he said. “But it still feels a bit special to know that I will be sitting in a WRC car this time.”

Both Sordo and Sandell will aim to benefit from a number of performance enhancements being introduced on the engine, chassis and aerodynamics of the MINI; which are set to be homologated by 1 March.

“It's great to have Patrik back on board, he was a real pleasure to work with in Sweden and he progressed so much as the event went on,” team principal Dave Wilcock said. “I know Dani will be looking to make amends for Sweden with his eyes on a potential podium and I suspect Patrik will not be far behind as it is an event he is familiar with.”

I dont want to sound negative here, but I personally dont Rate this Guy very highly. At least Thomas Radstrom and Mats Johnson were fighting for the Lead and winning thier round of the WRC when they were given Top Machinary in the past.

Anyone remotely promising has been given an opportunity with Malcolm Wilson to drive either a Focus WRC or Fiesta WRC, but this guy never got the call, I believe Malcolm also doesnt see the potential there either. Good driver but maybe in the same League as Armindo Aroujo.

Im sure there are Sweedish drivers showing more promise, it would be good to see some fresh and promising Talent coming through from Sweeden.
