Loeb enjoys McLaren test
28 December 2012
Sebastien Loeb's preparations for the 2013 season have continued after the multiple WRC champion completed a successful test of the McLaren MP4-12C he will campaign in the new GT Sprint Series.
The Frenchman hit the track at Navarra in Spain prior to Christmas for the test in the GT3-spec car, which will be run by his own Sebastien Loeb Racing team for the GT campaign.
Loeb's commitments in the new series – which replaces the FIA GT1 World Championship – will come alongside his four-round programme with Citroen in the World Rally Championship.
“Everything went well,” he said. “The feeling was good and the balance of the car was also good. The circuit is nice with some fast corners and as we prepare for 2013, we were able to look at a lot of different settings and made good progress with the set-up.
“It was an interesting day even if there is a lot of work still to do.”
Loeb, who is set to move to the World Touring Car Championship with Citroen in 2014, is also reported to considering whether to take up the challenge of competing in the Dakar Rally at some point in the future.
If the Frenchman did elect to race in the endurance classic, he would follow in the footsteps of men like Ari Vatanen, Colin McRae, Carlos Sainz and Nasser Al-Attiyah who have competed in both the Dakar and the WRC.
