Craig Breen has collected another award after being named Driver of the Year by the Irish Racing Drivers Club.
The IRDC held its annual awards at the Royal Automobile Club this week and the luncheon was attended by luminaries such as rally legends, Paddy Hopkirk and Rosemary Smith.
Breen, who secured his second successive world title last month when he won the S2000 category of the World Rally Championship, was presented with the Club's premier award by Club chairman, Alec Poole.
“It is a real honour to receive this prestigious award,” said Breen, who lost his best friend and co-driver, Gareth Roberts, during a tragic accident in June on the IRC event in Sicily. “It was a tough season and to be recognised by the IRDC is very special.”
Club Chairman, Alec Poole added: “The IRDC was formed to recognise and support Irish racers and celebrate their achievements. Craig had an exceptional season culminating with the Super 2000 championship crown. We are delighted that Craig could join us to receive this prize.”
Meanwhile, you voted Breen
fourth best in our World Rally Driver of the Year 2012 vote, as revealed on Friday.
