STOP PRESS: Ogier wins in Portugal

14 April 2013

Volkswagen's Sebastien Ogier has made it a hat-trick of wins following his triumph on Rally de Portugal.

Ogier led for all but one of the stages, and despite not feeling 100 per cent, after a bout of 'flu pre-event, and despite a clutch problem this morning, which cost him around 30 seconds, he came through to take the victory by 58.2 seconds.

It was his third win on the trot and after also winning the Power Stage the Frenchman increases his lead in the Drivers' Championship from 31 points to 54.

Mikko Hirvonen meanwhile took the runners-up spot again for Citroen, gaining a place on the final day when Jari-Matti Latvala, like Ogier, was slowed by mechanical issues this morning. Latvala eventually took third.

Evgeny Novikov came in fourth, ahead of Nasser Al-Attiyah, Andreas Mikkelsen and Martin Prokop. Mads Ostberg, Khalid Al-Qassimi and Esapekka Lappi round out the points' scorers.
