WRC Rally Argentina 2013: Problem with co-drivers' door led to roll - Sordo

3 May 2013

Citroen's Dani Sordo has revealed a problem with his co-driver's door contributed to his roll on Rally Argentina on Thursday.

Sordo was running seventh overall after SS2, but went out in the first-run through the 51.88 km Ascochinga-Agua de Oro test, SS3, when Carlos del Barrio called the wrong pacenote after he got distracted by the half-open door. Although the Spaniard could continue, he lost over 7 minutes, as the off damaged the power steering on his DS3 WRC car.

Sordo also later picked up a 50-second time penalty when he was late leaving the mid-day service, as the extensive repairs took longer than the allocated time. The Spaniard eventually concluded the leg in tenth place.

β€œI wasn't comfortable on SS2, which I thought was very slippery. But it was much better on the next stage [SS3]. Unfortunately, there was a problem with Carlos' door. It affected his concentration and he didn't give me the right pace note,” Sordo explained.

β€œIt's really disappointing, but that's life. We are still in the rally and we will keep going now to try and secure the best possible result.”
