Sordo relishing Sardinia test
17 June 2013
Citoren driver, Dani Sordo, is hoping to build on his good result on the recent Acropolis Rally, as the World Rally Championship continues its globe-trotting schedule in Italy.
Sordo, who finished second in Greece last time out, currently lies sixth in the championship with 47 points, but is confident that his form is such that he can contemplate another podium going into the Sardinian event.
“We saw in Portugal and Greece that I was pretty comfortable on road surfaces offering a good level of grip,” the Spaniard explained, "That should also be the case in Sardinia.
"Finishing second on the Acropolis Rally did me a lot of good, [and] helped me to regain confidence after a bit of a rough patch. I'm aiming for a very good result this weekend.”
The 30-year old knows finally finding his first WRC victory won't be easy on the Mediterranen island, but is hoping to make his mark early.
“Before thinking about winning, you need to produce the perfect performance and get through several stages,” he added, aware that a good result will carry him through the impending WRC summer break.
“I need to feel confident with the car, set a good time in qualifying to have the best possible starting position, and put together a series of stages without any mistakes.”
