Ingrassia to miss Volkswagen test

27 June 2013

Julien Ingrassia is to miss Volkswagen's upcoming test in preparation for Rally Germany after picking up a shoulder injury.

Ingrassia sustained the injury in a fall while mountain biking in Corsica as part of a training tour and is now set to undergo surgery to aid in his recovery.

The Frenchman is expected to be fit to return to action for Rally Finland at the start of August, but will be replaced for the upcoming test in Trier by Nicolas Klinger, who will sit alongside championship leader Sebastien Ogier for the session.

“It is obviously not good news, but the most important thing is that Julien gets well soon,” Ogier said. “We have already spoken over the phone, and he sounded confident that he will be with us at the Rally Finland.”

Volkswagen Motorsport Director Jost Capito was quick to wish Ingrassia a speedy recovery.

“It was obviously a shock to us when we heard the news,” he said. “Everyone in the Volkswagen team wholeheartedly wishes Julien a speedy recovery. I am confident that he will be back in action for us again at the next rally in Finland.”
