Xaus 'expected' early Corser advantage.

Ruben Xaus says he was unsurprised to find that new BMW team-mate Troy Corser adjusted to the new S1000RR faster than he did at this week's Valencia test, due to the double world champion's vast experience of different machines.

Both Xaus and Corser made their debut on BMW's new inline four-cylinder Superbike at the private two day test.

No exact lap times were given, but according to Berti Hauser, director of BMW Motorrad Motorsport, Corser "got into the 1min 35secs on race rubber", which compares well with the Australian's best race lap of 1min 35.256sec at the 2008 Valencia round (see seperate story). Hauser did not reveal how close Xaus got to Corser.

"We are much closer to competitive lap times then previous tests - we didn't use any qualifiers and Troy got into the 1min 35secs on race rubber - and we know, from the riders, the things we have to do to improve," said Hauser.

Xaus, a WSBK race winner on a satellite (v-twin) Sterilgarda Ducati for the past two-seasons, said he felt happier with the bike as the test went on.

"I am happier today than yesterday, but that's normal because I have now had more time on the bike," Ruben said at the end of the outing. "What I can say is that I am very happy with the bike - how it handles, how it turns and its power. It is very stable at speed and it is not a physical bike to ride and already I'm pretty comfortable on it.

"Troy and I have different riding styles and that means we are giving our team a lot of info and data for them to analyse before the next test," revealed the eleven-time WSBK race winner. "Troy has experience of riding twins, three cylinder and four cylinder bikes, so was able to get dialled in faster than me, but that's what I expected.

"Everybody in the team is working well together and I feel very positive and happy about our future," Xaus concluded.

mavrick, Xaus rode very well when he was team mate with Bayliss and Hodgson, and he was stronger than Hodgson in the second part of the year Hodgson won his title! I bet Xaus win on the BMW before Corser! Corser have not won now for 2 yea.rs If BMW wants a win at the WSBK, than Xaus is the one of the man to get a hold on.
