Why should Max cut his rates. He's been competitive in his first year in Superbike yet Batta offered him less to ride in 2008 than he got this year due to FG Sport not subsidising his salary next year.

Would those of you who are all so quick to knock him happily take a 20% or 30% pay cut with their current employers???

I thought not. Muppets.

WSBK » Biaggi leaves Suzuki

Max Biaggi has officially split from Alstare Suzuki, the team with whom he finished an impressive third during his debut 2007 season in the World Superbike championship.

Biaggi is a BIG primadona, and while I think he is a great rider, yes he is good but he is not god!
Bayliss that is way better than Biaggi cost much less and is actually a friendly character. Biaggi on the other hand is a complainer and a "sour kid".

Bata should take Xaus which will win at least 3 wins on the Suzuki (as Biaggi),will give much more action, and will cost much less than Biaggi EVEN if we consider how many bikes Xaus will wreck :-) during the season.
Biaggi, you can do one good thing, go to Roberts and ride the KR bike, maybe you can do more than Kurtis.

If the rumours that he offered himself to Ducati for free next season are true, he screwed up his negotiating stance for a decent deal next year at that point. Also if he did do that, it was a major slap in the face for Batta who went WAY out his way to bring baggy to the championship. Moral - don't bite the hand that feeds you....

Haga actually is the most "expensive" rider after Max, then Bayliss, Corser and Toseland I think.

Rossi must have a laugh now, as he is so "fond" of Max....
Again, if Max is such a sponsor magnet, than he could bring Camel back and hopefully go back to MotoGP. I'll ruther not see him destroying such a nice and pure championship as WSBK. At the MotoGP they are more used to these kind of types, he is more "at home" there. Viva Camel-Roberts

neninja....i'll tell you why he should take that paycut...to get a ride for next year maybe? At his age you can't go on gardening leave every other year. Ultimately you are worth as much as someone is willing to pay you.
I chuckled when Biaggi offered to ride the Ducati for free because it made Bayliss sign up there and then. I think Bayliss mentioned something along the lines of "over my dead body" in terms of Biaggi riding the Ducati..shows what he thinks of him :)
Let's be honest here for a mo, how big is that ego? By all means call Batta's bluff but when there isn't any other big rides out there to go to surely you gotta realise when to lower your financial expectations. Or not :P

Personally, I think it is a travesty that Biaggi won't be in WSBK next season.

Also, it wasn't purely down to money. Max also wanted some space for personal sponsors and some technical improvements on the bike. Suzuki could not do any of them.

C'mon, Biaggi is one of the worlds best riders and deserves to get what he wants (like all top riders), he isn't a back-marker!

We have lost a major superstar from WSBK in Max Biaggi and I cannot believe that the WSBK organisers haven't done anything to keep him in the series.

The racing world is a poorer place without him.

All the best for the future Max, whatever you decide to do.

ejl666, I NEVER thought id hear those words come from you :D I must say im impressed that you have seen the light with Biaggi. ;)

Maybe now you wont defend him to the death anymore when he gets teased because of his stupid actions. You might even join in ;)

Well done lad!

Biaggi R6 cup champion 2008!! or Supermotard Champion 2008!

I dont see why there are so many people slating the man; I think that Max was starting to show much better character, looked more relaxed and showed his true colours.
I was never a huge Biaggi fan but this year he has done an excellent job in adjusting to the two race format as well as the sheer speed needed from lap 1.
Bottom line is that he has shown his worth not only his performances but with the media speculation that he has brought to the championship.
Furthermore, hes a shrewd man; he wont have dropped a contending team like Batta's without having another ride lined up.. bottom line is that I dont believe that this decision has been based solely on money.. we'll see what happens
