I feel really sorry for Max, but I also don't blame Checa for trying. The race doesn't end until the cheqered flag and it wasn't a million miles away from the Rossi/Gibernau last corner clash at Jerez in 2005...

Again, Max didn't deserve to be caught up in it. In an 'ideal' world Checa would either have made the pass safely and been a hero, or fallen on his own without bringing Max down.

Both riders deserved to win in my eyes.

Regarding the f-1 processions, yesterday was interesting as the question has surfaced if Alonso had "brake tested" Hamilton. Also I recall another multi world champion who was not adverse to taking out an opponent when the championship was at stake. Ask Hill and Villeneuve. But the hairball move by Checa was not calculated in any way and he should be punished for it.

Another armchair racer heard from. A little club racing and they natter on about if the rest of their lives. If you don't think Checa's move was stupid, it shows your lack of knowledge of top level racing.

Ronald Ten Kate can say what he likes, The looks on all his mechanics faces spell out loud and clear that they'd rather have James Toseland on the bike

Well, a crash like this may happen in such an overheated situation - no discussion about that. But what really pisses me off is that Carlos hasn't had the courage until now to apologize from person to person. You may say: he doesn't need to. I completely disagree! If he would be a true sportsman (not mentioning a local hero) he would not finish the race and start the fireworks after performing such a stupid move. Hey? What do previous races count in this matter, when someone else attacked Carlos in a similar way? It has nothing to do with that Valencia race. Shame on you, Carlos, for this arrogant behaviour! Marc

edward - go to www.worldsbk.com and watch the 'crash after crash' video and you will see that Carlos was half a bike length in front of Max before he fell, Max had already seen Carlos just before that as you see Max pick the bike up as Carlos passed on the inside. It was Checca's home race, he had come from 12th to catch the leader on the last lap, it was pretty obvious he was going to go for the race win. There was nothing stupid about what he did, if he did do anything wrong it was getting a poor start. It's not like he did a Capirossi on Harada move - now that was stupid.

Checked that web site 190mph and got a message the vid was not available in my region. However I have the race recorded on my Tivo and I just rewatched it on slo-mo. Checa would never have made the corner even if Max had not have been in front of him. He went in way too hot and took Max out from behind. Pilot error and then some. Bad show.

Every pass attempts have own logics?

Until the last lap Carlos was the star of the race but suddenly he thought to pass Max but there was no control on his move? It was obviously clear that Max has advantage and there was no much room for Carlos. Carlos was too optimistic and he tried but Max was there and trying to take corner?

If Carlos only falls down then no problem but next him he took Max who has no fault and right for victory!...

:)

For me until the last corner race was amazing but after that sad so much? Lanzi is not the real winner but he was the lucky winner!!!

:)

edward - Carlos did not take out Max from behind, Carlos was already alongside and was actually slightly ahead before he fell. If the roles were reversed and it was Max's home race he would of tried the same manoeuvre, any racer would. It's what makes motorcycle racing so good to watch - knowing that the riders will give it their all.
Carlos was clearly the quickest rider on race day, the way he passed Bayliss and Haga in race two proved that he wanted race wins and wasn't going to settle for second.
