I feel really sorry for Max, but I also don't blame Checa for trying. The race doesn't end until the cheqered flag and it wasn't a million miles away from the Rossi/Gibernau last corner clash at Jerez in 2005...

Again, Max didn't deserve to be caught up in it. In an 'ideal' world Checa would either have made the pass safely and been a hero, or fallen on his own without bringing Max down.

Both riders deserved to win in my eyes.

OK, I rewatched it several times and Checa's momentum as he was too hot carried him into the side of Max. Yes it's exciting, but it was a clumsy maneuver that injured another rider. I think that as an outcome is worse that if Checa had not tried. Checa didn't even seem to feel any real remorse.

Pretty disappointing move by Checa after the highly calculated passes he'd made up to that point. Carrying waay too much speed through the last bend to even make the corner. By the way, while Checa was in front by a wheel when the **** hit the fan, he tucked the front by holding front binders too long. I'd hoped for a better showing from a MotoGP "vet".

Edward, I hope you'll never be an advisor for race control, motorcycle racing would became so boring. I do feel sorry for Max.N and as for Checa it was obvious he was going to try something risky but then again this is motorcycle racing, Checa didn't hit Neukirchner from behind, this remenber me of Barros doing a late braking in the first corner during the last lap at Sachsenring, O.Jacques was in front and on his way to score the only 500cc win against a Motogp bike then Barros brakes late crash and took Jacques out.Jacques did open the door in that corner and Barros saw it and went for it, yes that was for the win too.

Nicko got it right. I have it on Tivo and have watched it numerous times now and it was exactly as Nicko said. A clumsy maneuver that injuries another rider is just ugly. Not at all something that speaks to professionalism and good racing. Suggest Patrice you try Demolition Derbies. .

Why? I have it on Tivo and am the only one to be able to give an accurate assessment. I am right and the rest are wrong.

Edward, when a rider has a slim chance to win a race he doesn't have much time to think about it and sometimes he realised he got it wrong but it's too late, for Checa he had to go or not but Neukirchner did offer him a chance by slowing down too much, if you were Checa I wonder what kind of question you would have ask yourself, you are catching the guy in front of you and you are thinking he is having some kind of problem, again I agree it was a risky move but Checa's intention wasn't to crash or to injured Neukirchner, maybe he was simply trying to win a race and who knows maybe it could be the only chance he may have this year, so try to put yourself in his shoes.

If the situation had been reversed I wouldn't have blamed Max. He is young and entitled to silly mistakes. Not Checa. He is probably the oldest guy out there and should be held to a higher standard which means not pulling stupid stunts and endangering another rider. It's called racecraft and Checa showed why he has never won a championship. Yeah, a good race here and there, but never a champion.

Patrice,
It wasn't "risky", as that implies it had some chance of success. Checa crossed the line(no, not that one!)and he really ought to have a punishment - you can't have a free for all

"I have it on Tivo and am the only one to be able to give an accurate assessment."

Well by golly you've got it - all those officials in race control just need Tivo in their control tower! I bet they never realised there was some guy sat at home with his little Tivo box doing a better job than them! The argument isn't who was in the wrong - it was Checa. The point is, he's a racer and most people don't blame him for having a shot at it.

"I am right and the rest are wrong"

Have you any idea how narrow-minded and arrogant that sounds?!
