I feel really sorry for Max, but I also don't blame Checa for trying. The race doesn't end until the cheqered flag and it wasn't a million miles away from the Rossi/Gibernau last corner clash at Jerez in 2005...

Again, Max didn't deserve to be caught up in it. In an 'ideal' world Checa would either have made the pass safely and been a hero, or fallen on his own without bringing Max down.

Both riders deserved to win in my eyes.

I think the real problem hear is not the move Checa made (Heat of the moment etc) had the worse result possible. The race winnner out & injured 4 the next 3 races & he remounts and gets 5th. This was in no way like the Jerez 05 Sete-Rossi move which was blatant cheating by Rossi & unfair for Gibernau, but simply a 'Bad' racing move with a 'Bad' result but thats racing.

The biggest problem I have & I would assume alot of people is that Bayliss showed more remorse 4 the incident than Checa did (on the podium he did not even spray the champain and I salute him for that a true racer attitude knowing he was gifted). Also the fact that Checa had a chance in race 2 to apologise properly & didn't

What's the point of implementing newer and safer guidelines to the machinery when riders still ride like idiots????????!!!!!!!

It's logic that a team boss defends his rider. It's very important, but I can't believe that he's happy with what happend. They lost a lot of points there. Checa's move was very stupid. With the speed he came in to the corner it was impossible for him to stay on the track.

While I agree that it may not have been a safe move by Checa but it was understandable in the heat of a race. It was a miscalculation on his part that unfortunately caused the crash and injury to Max N. He did appologize but not in a sympathetic manner. Hopefully Checa will be more careful next time and Max N. should remember to close the door on his opponents.

Carlos was so strong in Valencia and he had made similar moves on Lanzi and Bayliss...and Max Neukirchner lost so much time on the last three laps that Carlos, in front of the home crowd, was unable to resist the temptation...he was coming from too deep to make it and knew it at the end. He told me, "I was in too hot and I thought Max would pick up and then come back under me, but he couldn´t know I guess how hard I was coming and how committed. Sure I am very sorry, for him, for me and for the fans, but we are racing out there and we all want to win." For me it was like Biaggi in Australia. He wanted to win and felt he could. Biaggi almost took out Fonsi at Doohan.

I refer above to "Doohan corner" in OZ in race two of round two last month, not "Doohan Corner" in Valencia, which is turn two, the one where Rossi crashed out to lose the title to Hayden in 2006.

I think this is exaggerating just a lance career.

Carlos Checa was very strong all weekend, but he failed in the superpole. When the race began, there were many falls, and Max were able to escape. Then Carlos Checa began to go up positions to stand at the top positions. In the last few laps, Max ran slower and Carlos was able to approach him. In the last lap, Carlos was very near to Max and try to pass him, he couldn't. Finally Carlos pass him in the last corner but he loses his front wheel and fall with Max. The two did a good race but sometimes these things happen. Carlos ran at home, should try to win. I hope Max be ok soon.

Checa could have A.taken the points and accolades for a hard fought run to to second place or B. tried to use corner speed and draft down the front straight to win. The bottom line is that the move was ill advised and stupid when you look at the cost long term (a possible championship contender injured and lost points and a respectable rider's credentials seriously tainted. While we racers understand that our sport isnt ballet its definitely not NASCAR either! Riders please respect the sport.
