Jeff says "it should have a few exciting races and reignite WSBK as it was getting a little old and dull"
I say,are you having a fecking joke or what lol? Do you watch WSB on a regular basis? If you did (and i'm not having a go even if it sounds like i am) then your opinion might be somewhat different. Did you watch the last round with Nori racing Biaggi and then racing Troy Bayliss in the next race. How about the Monza races? 0.058 was the margin in the first race and 0.009 was the margin in the 2nd. There 30 or more bikes on the grid depending on wild cards, not to mention how may there will be next year. IMHO WSB is where it is at entertainment-wise, can't wait till next year..even better

He is a good rider, but he will struggle in WSBK for sure, He won't be used to finishing of the podium let alone wining so it is how he will handle the 'Learning' time that will see how competative he will be. Fair play for giving it a go though Mladin was scared to go! at least spies will put his money where his mouth is!! I wish him well, next year WSBk could be more exciting than MotoGP AGAIN!!

If Spies does go to WSBK, then he will aslso be with the like of Rae, Hill, Sykes and possibly Haslam - all young and exciting riders, it should have a few exciting races and reignite WSBK as it was getting a little old and dull. We will also find out how good they are and whether they are as good as their reputations/egos!

COOL! :)

He'll be a real addition to the WSBK grid I'm sure of that. Especially after his
fine performances in MotoGP.

Great news!

This is fantastic news for WSBK. Lets hope we get another Aussie in there like Josh Brookes to make it the best of Aus as well. Zempke looks like coming, as someone who ahas seen Spies in the flesh in the US, he will go well!

Mladin bottled it and wouldnt play with the big boys. Ben Spies could just kick a few butts. Will be interesting how he gets on with Tom Sykes :)

It was mentioned by Moody/Ryder at the weekend that Yamaha are trying to persuade Edwards to go to Yamaha Italy even though he has signed a contract with Tech3. I can't see it happening but if it does could that mean Spies for Tech3 ?
Either way WSBK is getting hotter and hotter as every day passes, what with BMW and Aprilia joining and Rea, Hill, Sykes and now Shakey Bryne and probably Spies too. Its about time we had a Yank to add to the mix.
Good luck to Ben. Roll on '09

Maybe Yamaha will expand to run 3 bikes, with Guintoli on one too??? Since they're upping their involvement in BSB and have just won another MotoGP title, perhaps Yamaha have world domination on their minds?!?

Spies will be a fantastic addition to WSB, especially if he gets the Yamaha seat alongside Syko. He is clearly a fast & very talented rider. Sure its gonna take him a bit of time to get used to the new bike, learn the tracks & get used to the very aggressive riding in WSB, but the Brits are in the same boat.

In MotoGP you know that only 3 or 4 riders will win races (not to mention only 17 bikes on the grid. WSB next season is going to be fantastic. Full grid, competitive and fantastic racing. :)

You know WSBK is looking great next year with the Brit content (Rea,Haslam,Sykes,Byrne) the next teams (Aprilia, BMW and KTM in 2010) and with Spies coming on-board it is going to be fantastic.

Will still miss Bayliss though.
