Even Micheal knows that WSBK will produce more interesting racing - its a fantastic series and is eminently more watchable than MotoGP (although I am a huge fan of both series).

Its good to see such a high profile sportsman like Micheal appearing in the bike paddocks - can only help our sport.

That's free speech for you! ******** is a word begining with W and ending with S that may involve the use of a hand. I had inserted some ** to avoid being censored!!!!! There who cares?

Schumi must have the best time of his life, having accumulated wealth and fame in cars he now gets to play with the best bikes around and everybody is honoured and happy having him around. :)

I'm just so impressed he can get down to those times, I doubt there's much doubt a young Schumi could have competed at the very top level on 2 wheels.

It is good for bike racing publicity to have MS on board.

Please do not take 5 seconds a lap slower as a good sign. There are atleast 10,000 racers wordwide who would be able to do that time if given the chance. This would include some that have never raced on bitumen.

"**** happens" when you venture into the last 5 seconds. Please refer to Kevin Shwanz's comments a few months ago.

regards
Garry

ps: Many years ago I watched Barry Sheene get down to some pretty good times on a Kawa Superbike in his street clothes. He did about 5 laps at a pace that only A graders would beat. After a round of the Australian Super Bike Championship at Sandown in Melbourne Australia.

John Surtees was the only guy EVER to win the premier class on both 2 wheels and four.
Shumi was always up for a challenge.
Perhaps this is his goal - the only guy of the modern era to achieve that feat?
Long shot, but the sort of thing that would rock his boat.

Please Crash.Net tell us about the test that happened today - this story is all about Michael Schumacher having a ride round during the FG Sport press day on Monday. Good times and good publicity, but how many bike journos were turning better times than MS?

The real tests started today and continue tomorrow - my understanding is that so far Ben Spies is fastest on the 2009 R1. Matt - the sound clip on Superbikeplanet was long enough to tell me the new R1 sounds just how I expected - just like a VFR750 - not surprising as they share the same firing intervals.

Please Crash - tell us about the tests not the press day!

Tonyed - why pick on Hamilton for being a tax exile - what about Coulthard and Button - dont they have homes in Monaco as well ? If I earned as much as Hamilton why would I want to give it away to the taxman by staying in the UK - it seems like a sensible move to me - you're just jealous :D

Info on the test is sketchy right now. Yesterday Spies rode Haga's 08 bike then did a lap or two right at the checker on the 09.

According to SuperBike Planet, today Spies topped the charts with a best lap of 1:44.1 (Haga's best lap in the race was 1:43.9). Did not mention whether he rode the 08 or 09 bike or who else was on the track. Anyway you slice it, pretty impressive considering he didn't have all weekend on the track and its the first time on the bike.
