If anyone seriously thinks that Shakey could win the WSBK title on a customer bike when he doesn't even know half the circuits, want their heads testing IMO.

Wins at Donington and Silverstone maybe but no title I am afraid.

1. Haga
2. Checa
3. Kiyonari

Shakey simply isn't good enough to take a customer bike to the front and consistently defeat the front runners, he's no Troy Corser or James Toseland.

He might not be Corser in term of being almost always fast, but I think Shakey will win at least one race next year, while I don't think Corser will win any race next year while he will be title contender.

Repeating myself i know but shakey wont be on a very customer bike closer to a factory one.How can you say he's no james toesland the only time they raced in wsb on the same bike i dont think james was on the same half of lap as shakey.

Yup. Only time Byrne shared a track with Toseland was the Brands rounds in '03. Toseland and Walker were on the GSE prep'd F02 Ducatis (and we know GSE are good at prepping Dukes - remember Hodgson on one against Edwards & Bayliss round Laguna Seca in 2000... think it was 2000 anyway). Hodgson and Xaus were also on Fila Ducati F03's and Shakey blew the whole lot into the weeds... twice !! But he's no Toseland...? Yeah like **** he's not !!
Byrnes '09 Duke will be as close to an F09 as you can get, if in fact it isn't a full on F09 anyway. GSE I believe ran factory bikes in WSBK for a good few years so I don't see why Sterilgarda won't be able to, plus Byrne works directly for Ducati now...

Damo - you over rate Kiyonari! He is Mr Inconsistent - if he gets a perfect setup and knows the track back to front he is unbeatable, so he will get some wins.

Richard - I agree that Rea will outscore Kiyo. Regarding Byrne - he has the talent, but will he have the bike. Ducati will want Haga to win so he will get the best Ducati - besides the fours have now caught up with the twins and might surpass them over the winter. Neukirchner outscored Kagayama and Nieto with a lower spec bike and a novice crew. With a full spec bike and experienced crew he has to be worth a punt.

If Checa gets plenty of winter development time he may get his mojo back.

When did Corser last win a race?

To summarise - I don't have the faintest idea who will win the championship! Can't wait to find out though!

As much as I would like Shakey to win the 2009 title, I think Colin Wright is talking through his well worn back passage. Just look at the facts: Customer bike. 1st time at some of the tracks. It is good to see so many Brits in WSBK next year, rollon 2009!
