If Roberts came to BSB, he would probably HAVE to win the title to justify Ducati's faith in him and that is a lot of pressure for your first season of Superbikes. By staying in WSBK, he can probably pace himself a bit.

The competition is so strong that the status of 'top privateer' is probably going to be a bit more sought after now, particularly if he can make regualr top ten appearances.

would like to have seen him stay in ssuperstock with xerox another year and then get the xerox superbike ride when haga retires or they realise fabrizio isn''t good enough. i think roberts is one of the most naturally talented young riders around. he ripped up the british superbike championship a couple of years ago, and now he is world superstock champion... big things to come for this boy... but i can''t help thinking he has made a mistake moving away from the factory ducati team.

Ducati arent really 'that' stupid are they? I suspect that theyre paying Brendan and slippping a few quid to the team. Then as the OP says he'll replace Fabrizio in 2010 :-)

Good to see Brendan graduating to WSBK, he should be Zerox Ducati's second rider in place of Fabrizio.......

Marky, just to correct you, Brendan won the British Superstock title in 2006 not the British Superbike title.

Due to his bad wrist injury in early 2007 his 2007 campaign was curtailed early. This may be Xerox Ducatis way of thinking....give him a year in a satellite team and then in 2010 a full factory ride....let's hope Ducati have mapped out his future career as I've watched this guy from his first season in the UK in the 2005 Yamaha R6 Virgin Cup championship which he finished 2nd in the championship and has done great things since

Nothing wrong with the Guandalini Ducati, Smrz showed that. Only his poor starts robbed him of better results.

The Reason he is not in Superstock for 2009 is because he will be to old to participate in the championship.

Good Lck to him.

Are Ducati Corse gonna keep throwing him some tasty parts? They should, with a year under his belt on a decent bike with no pressure, then a move to Xerox with the championship in mind. :)

For a talented rider winning both British and European Superstock titles he does make it difficult for himself by getting himself a ride with a lower order team. Plus Europsport said he wasn't paid for his ride with Ducati - he just got expenses - what a way to make a living.

Hope he gets a good ride in 2010

maybe all teams should be expenses only with performance bonuses, then we''ll get rid of those past their ''sell by dates'', and riders giving it their all for the whole season and not at contract renewal time. well done Brendan, got awesome picture of you last year at a ''damp'' silverstone...
