Kagayama won the Suzuka 8 hour which gives him a Suzuki ride for the rest of his career plus he is vital to the development of the bike.

Fonsi was outperformed by Neukirchner who had a novice crew and a lower spec bike - so not a difficult decision to make. Hopefully Neukirchnrt will now have more experienced technicians and will therefore be less hit and miss with his bike setup.

Kagayama is imposed by Suzuki, like Fujiwara at Kawasaki, like Aoyama was at Honda...
As to the choice of Neukirchner by preference to Nieto, it's normal in terms of 2008 performance and margin for improvement, and in terms of motivation too. Kagayama will shine and crash, and Neukirchner will fight for the title.

Finally, as Nieto has wealthy sponsors, it might be a very clever move from Batta, who might end up selling one of his WSB packages (like the Celani-Muggeridge one) to Nieto instead of paying him to ride a full factory K9 !

Very good move I think :)

Poor Fonsi, what an awful thing to happen :-(. I hope he finds a great ride for next year, I believe in him and his talent and I think people forget that he was a race winner and on the podium a few times in 2008! I wish him lots of luck for '09.

IMO Nieto is way overrated and I was surprised that he got the ride in the first place. But not surprised they drop him. I guess that his sponsor has not survived the crisis.

Kagayama is past his best, but still better than silver spoon Fonsi. I'm sick of silver spoon riders with personal backers and the right nationality, ie... Rolfo, Fra****sio, etc!
