Ben is a nice guy, shows respect and his down-to-earth attitude is something that makes him my favorite! However, I would like to see Nori finally take the title this year. :)

Who will win this year's World Superbike Championship? Crash.net readers say Ben Spies, although the man himself fancies Noriyuki Haga for the title...

I've been very impressed with Ben during testing, but THE favorite for the title? I think the riders that came out on top of this poll will certainly figure this year, but you'd have to say that the guys who know these tracks, have raced on them on Superbikes, and who currently have the best seats would be the favorites - Haga, Neukirchner, Checa... I think riders like Spies, Biaggi, Byrne and Rea will certainly feature, but championships like these are won over a season. New tracks/bike/class will all make a sustained title assault more difficult. But do roll on the surprises, please!

I am happy about the poll! but unfortunately the polls don't win championships! I agree with Spies statement about Haga being the man to beat but I would have (higher)favour for Haga if he stayed on a Yamaha! No doubt Spies can win it but the others will show a surprise foot in this race for the championship and it may well boil down to a bit of luck....This series is hot when you can't even decisively pick a winner....but you all know my 2 favourites :p

With such a talent rich grid and many young guns out to prove themselves, consistency will win the title. If you look at Spies record in AMA SB he has an insane percentage of podiums. This is what will win him the title.

Syklone,

Don't forget that Spies was only 1 tenth slower on a new bike, new rubber and new circuit (Portimao)in 1 day than Haga over a whole weekend.

Testing an racing are two different things but i have alot of faith in Spies :)

It's gonna be crazy sunday...i'm looking forward to the start of the season.

Spies winning the domestic championship thrice is impressive but let's put it into perspective. The AMA is a shell of its former self & they only had a couple of fast guys ever weekend (c'mon when Jamie Hacking is considered the third best rider in the series?).

Look at Kiyo who won the BSB title twice (which is a heck more competitive than AMA) & he won 3 races his first year in World supers. I think Spies will end up winning around the same amount but get more podiums because he appears much more consistently fast than kiyo but to win the world title his first year is being overly optimistic.
