I don't agree that Tamada is mid-pack at best - for instance, he is better than Laconi and Fabrizio, who consistently run ahead of him. Tamada won MotoGP races. His results declined when he started getting rides for mediocre teams, like Konica Minolta Honda (where Shinya Nakano struggled as well) and Tech3 Yamaha (which ran on uncompetitive Dunlop tyres at the time). Since his move to Kawasaki, he has been a shadow of his real self, due to bad machinery. I think that if he was on a Honda, Yamaha or any other bike, he would be doing much better, getting podiums and also some wins. But that is the way it can go.

Good luck, hope he'll get some decent results on that pos Krapasaki. What a waste of talent on team green.
Hope to see Tamada on another bike next year, a bike that is capable of winning.

Years ago showed flashes of real ability, but has been in a steady decline since. Mid-pack ability at best. Why bother to report it. There must be a deeper talent pool in Japan that would yield better prospects. Maybe they just don't like foreign sushi.

@phill, I do as well. He should have never left bridgestone for michelin. That was his biggest mistake. The bridgestones suited his wicked riding style and he was FAST at "hot/humid" temperature tracks like Rio and Japan. The bridgeStones were not developed like they are now. If he had just stayed and boosted his confidence I wonder what this man would have become in motogp.

Why is he still fooling with that Krapaski? This guy beat Bayliss and Edwards on a Superbike. He beat Rossi and Biaggi on MotoGP bikes. Why is he wasting his time and talent with that bike? Surely he saw how Laconi got tired of crashing his brains out and left for greener pastures.

uh maybe because he is under contract with Kawa & they are paying him a lot of green (no pun intended).

Whatever anyone says, he still has more race wins in SBK than riders like Checa & Neukirchner and equal to Biaggi in a lot fewer starts.

One thing that Kawa can do to reverse their fortune (perhaps by next year) is to completely re-design the ZX-10R bike, maybe in the same mould as the new ZX-6R? It's smaller sibling has shown some moments of briliant qualifying performance, which surely packs further potential..

Would all the members of Tamadas family stop writing in & pumping up this guys tyres please.
This guy is a passenger and a non-tryer (don't care about the long long past). He is taking up the space for a young talented rider who would actually have a dip. :D
