I agree with that last comment, but it just goes to show Spies' true talent. If you look back at all the races and Superpoles, he has only legitametly been beaten by Haga once. Haga is great and I would never argue that, but in my mind Spies is no doubht the best rider in WSBK. He's one every Superpole along with every race except for Valencia when he crashed out the first race and coming home in 2nd was much more important than trying to push too hard and crash out in race two.

There's not one other race or Superpole where the results actually matter where he has not won or had some sort of problem and yes you need to have the points to win championships but HE IS THE REAL DEAL.

This just goes to show how World Superbike is a long and diverse season with many twists and turns. Remember last year Bayliss won the title and had something like five DNFs.

If Spies can double in South Africa next week he'll have the lead down close to 40 points going back home to the US. He seems to be growing in confidence and the bike is still getting better.

This title could still come down to the final race in Portugal.

What Ben has showed this afternoon is with no doubt something phenomenal! He absolutely owned both Haga and Fabrizio in the first run. BEN IS TRULY the best out there. I could not believe my eyes when he had to watch Fabrizio and Haga go past him three houndred meters from the finish line with no fuel in the tank.

No denying his talent. no denying his mental toughness.

I cant help but wonder if Bayliss would like to have a go. :)

heartbreaking to see spies sputter out of fuel after delivering that riding lesson to the field. what perfect timing, spies and the new R1 both arriving on the scene at the same moment. they are rewriting the record books. look for multiple double wins this year, and next. spies rides in a class of his own, by himself, when its right

Team dropped a b0ll0ck with the fuel.

Biaggi had a good meet and was a bit silly not to tuck in behind Kagayama after his early off.

@Matthew Henry- The fact that Spies crashes were unforced means that Haga is beating him fair and square- Spies hardly ever crashed in AMA, he must be right on the limit to compete. Haga s crash today was due to extraneous circumstance.

Not saying anything against Spies, fair play to him for raising his game.

Don't worry about Spies, he won't be there next year!
New seat on a Motogp Yammy waiting just for him, with Lorezo Honda bound and Pedrosa Ducati bound!

There will be a chance for Spies in Tech3 Yamaha Next year, Poncharal has been pretty transparent that he will get spies if James toseland cannot deliver a good result. tech 3 is Yamaha is nothing short it terms of Specs given by Fiat Yamaha, i am talking about the exact engine revs is the same as the fiat riders, and pneumatic valve timing. but the only factors that where not given by tech3 yamaha, is the updates of the bike, everytime fiat yamaha get an update its only after 3 or 4 races before the tech3 can have. but in the later season Tech3 and Fiat have the equal engine specs. Thats how good the Yamaha in supporting its satellite team. In short its a matter of setting the bike well.
