It's a testament to Spies' skill and talent as a rider, and to the brand new R1 that they can be this competitive, really. The Yamaha team is doing decently, and Tom Houseworth is Ben's ace in the hole. (Anybody see similarities between this duo and another famous pairing for Yamaha?)

Ben may not win the title at seasons end, but he's more than given notice that he's a force to be reckoned with. Kudos to the young man for that.

anyway, what a bad weekend for me, My two riders, had their moments. Rossi and Spies, what can i ask for. anyway good luck to both of them. Rossi has still have a chance for the championship. But Spies, is quiet gloomy with regards to his chance, I guess next time he will start settling by just staying on the bike, and not pushing too hard if the bike cant keep up. I guess this is the year for Haga. Congrats to him, by then. Sorry folks its just so many bad luck had happened to Spies this season.

Just like clockwork, once Spies began to fall behind Haga in the points standings, the Spies "excuse machine" is starting to come out. No one was complaining about the Ducati's displacement & torque advantage when Ben was doing the double at Qatar and appeared on form to overtake Nori for the points lead.

Her's honesty for you - taken fromthe yamahapost race press release... but I'm having to edit so the typo is not censored by crash...

"Race two saw disaster strike for Spies, having dropped to third off the start, he again passed Biaggi on the inside for the second place spot and coming round for lap three took Haga in a fantastic move for the lead. No sooner had he done this than his s*h*i*t linkage broke, making it impossible to change gear and forcing him to retire from the race."

Ducati's advantage beginning to show up again, especially with both riders performing now. Do they still have that weight penalty rule in place I wonder?

Would love Haga to win the championship this year though.

Someone mentioned here that when Spies had the near crash in the first race he probably accidently slammed the shift lever with his foot and stressed it enough to fail in race 2.

I don't disagree. That's a very good possibilty, however the crew should have anticipated those kinds of things when a bike has such a violent snap like that. They should have checked all the levers, shifter, rear brake, clip-ons and anything else that might have been stresses during the near accident.

The Yamaha crew seems prone to silly mistakes and it's costing them big time.

funny because yamaha used up all the shift levers from Ben's prior crashes...

what's also funny is that 5 rounds ago- ben had already won the title? When you start off on a high, it's expected all the time. Ben is going through the same $h!t Haga had to deal with on the yamaha.. Haga is riding the ducati like we have never seen before, and has earned this and 2 other missed titles before. Ben is young and will get his- but still has alot to learn. The Pressure of up coming US round, and more distractions than foriegn rounds, and on top of that- a bad race weekend are not a good mix for Ben going into Miller.
I bet Miller will be his worst result of the year-(if he can finish)

Spies excuse machine?

Yeah, you're right. He should have ridden around a broken shift lever.

And good on you, Samuai. Wishing bad luck on a racer who has ridden clean and behaved as a gentleman like that. ******

At DaveCash,

You beat me to it mate, just read the email this morning and nearly coughed all my coffee over the work pc :)

It's a typo surely...but if it is then what word replaces it?

BTW the anti-The Ben comments need to be left out..same goes for anti-Nori one's. Don't blame the riders for what some of their so-called fans type on here. Most of us are decent people enjoying watching them battle it out. I'm chuffed Nori has a big points lead but i was still disappointed when The Ben went out in race 2 as it spoilt the show a bit. As for the whole Ducati cheating thing...that Yam (when it works and is not being binned) is a bloody marvel. It's new and so is Ben, gonna have gremlins

lets not spoil SBK the riders are giving it their best i.e. Nori, The Ben and Michel big-up to them. As for the bike advantage I don't agree watch the races at Phillip islands when Spies passed Haga as though he was stationary, when Max passed Haga and did faster lap time, Spies in losail race 1 & 2 he ran away with the race didn't he. Fabrizio in Manoza he was amazing. Lets just watch the events unfold and speculate too much. Though I also believe staying on the bike till the end is part of a rider's skill and capability if you make irrational decisions at 250km/h then you got another thing coming. :)

Nori definitely is due a championship, I mean only Foggy and Bayliss have won more races in the history of WSB. Spies clearly has the talent and speed to take it to wins, but you often feel he is on the ragged edge to push the bike that far, and obviously that is sometimes going to result in crashes. Nori unlike in previous seasons has been so consistent so far, and with Fabrizio getting his act together now Spies is going to have to continue to push to try and make up the deficit. I can't see him doing it, though he might take most wins I suppose. :)
