It's a testament to Spies' skill and talent as a rider, and to the brand new R1 that they can be this competitive, really. The Yamaha team is doing decently, and Tom Houseworth is Ben's ace in the hole. (Anybody see similarities between this duo and another famous pairing for Yamaha?)

Ben may not win the title at seasons end, but he's more than given notice that he's a force to be reckoned with. Kudos to the young man for that.

fanofthesport - you might be a fan of the sport but there is no way you're a bike rider!!!!!!!!!!

If your gear lever breaks then there's no way you can change gear, as I've found out to my own disappointment, when my gear lever broke and was hanging off. If I had tried to carry on, I would have been black flagged by the marshalls.

Just seems like you were just using this as an excuse to have a go at a rider you don't like. There's some of the riders in WSB that i'm not that struck on but as a racer I acknowledge the huge talent and skill a rider needs to compete at WSB level.

Call yourself a fan!!!!!!!!!

Soo bummed for the ben, it looked lkike it would have been a great race two. It's a testament to how aggressive and how hard he tries that his lever broke.

I have to agree with DJ and Cubikrube aswell regarding the dissagreement, I dont think its down to anyone disliking Spies or America, Its the animosity that some of his so called fans have created in here by just attacking everything and everyone who is not just a fan of ben, if anyone supports anyone else they get a good kicking from the ben superfan brigade which is a shame because most people here are motorcycle race fans not just Ben is god diciples. You see similar comments from rossi and stoner superfans

Its a shame because if those people put half the effort they do into attacking other fans and put that into just supporting the sport in general it would be much better for it because we all have a very strong common ground in loving the sport. So lets try and leave the personal attacks the gloating, the nasty snipes at other riders and the xenophobia out of this, so this can actually be a place for fans of the sport again. Other wise i see all the unpleasantness driving good people away which i don't think anyone wants.

I said that a few weeks ago but some 'fans' didn't like it. He can't go dropping valuable points. He needs consistency in both his and the bike's ability. You obviously can't blame him for things breaking on the bike. Well, not all the time anyway. Poles are all well and good, but they don't win you championships.

Everyone is forgetting that Haga is a very capable rider. He has been in the hunt for champioships for years. Bayliss was the only one keeping the Ducati competitive for his last two championships.

Spies reminds me of a younger Haga. He is riding the hell of a new bike - winning and crashing. Spies rode a well developed bike in the US and didn't have mechanical issues or ride aorund problems. Now he's on a new machine that still needs to be developed. The man is riding the bike better than Corser did so just let him ride. Sykes will catch up, he's pretty amazing as well. They are a young team (2 rookies) with a new bike. They weren't even expected to do this well.

Also, don't call Spies a Yankee. It's an insult. The US is a huge country with different regions. The East Coast Americans are Yankees - Spies is from Texas, which is located in the Southwest. It takes 24 hours just to drive across the state. He's a Texan - it really is different.

Those who are making up an issue between Spies and Haga should recon Spies is doing now what Haga has been doing his whole life, either crash or win...

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that why Haga has never won the title before?

Spies or Haga... I'll be happy with whoever wins the title, as I like them both and they both are class acts, saving the world from boredom of parade races!!

Not to start a fight but Spies was born in Tennesee (scuse spelling i'm English). Even though he has a Texan flag on his bike he was born in Tenesse (tried both spellings and they still look wrong lol).

And we'll honestly never know who's the best between Nori and The Ben unless you stick em on the same bike. I think it would be pretty damn close. Just remember when Nori started he won 3 out of 4 of his first races on tracks he didn't know either and did a bloody good job the rest of the year on a much less competitive bike (i remember Edwards slating his previous bike after moving to Castrol Honda...the one Nori got for his first ride in WSB) :)

@cubikrube - Tennessee and you're right but you would never call somone from Tennessee a yankee either or you'll get punched in the face.

BTW G.W. Bush was born in Connecticut so he is actually a yankee and not a Texan no matter how many cowboy boots he buys.

Cheers for the spelling there Bull. I'd call him "The Ben" in any case :)

Let's not get into a G W Bush type convo though, the site might melt! :p
