It's a testament to Spies' skill and talent as a rider, and to the brand new R1 that they can be this competitive, really. The Yamaha team is doing decently, and Tom Houseworth is Ben's ace in the hole. (Anybody see similarities between this duo and another famous pairing for Yamaha?)

Ben may not win the title at seasons end, but he's more than given notice that he's a force to be reckoned with. Kudos to the young man for that.

I have to disagree. The only thing that's obvious is that there's two riders that were going toe to toe for a hot minute there and that we honestly cant say that the yam is better than the zook because obviously none of the current Suzuki riders is Ben's equal. Add to that that Haga is somewhat familiar with the Ducati formula and P control tyres and Ben is on a brand new machine making it look like the next best thing to sliced bread. Put Ben on a familiar machine and we'd see different fortunes for Suzuki

So, how many points was Edwards behind Baylis in 2002 when Edwards then won 9 races in a row to come back and win the title?
Although the current defecit is large, it ain't over until it is mathematically over.

What are talking about.... Inform yourself ! The Duke and the Yam are the best bikes on the grid PERIOD.

Moreover Spies and Haga are the fastest too...

However Flatplane crankshaft litteraly burns rear tyres that's why flatplane riders can be fast in qual and NOT during races That's OBVIOUS.

And stop breaking my balls with Spies....he is a human being...

Dont forget to disagree me !

@Nori fan: you said this and someone even agreed with you?
"fanofthesport - you might be a fan of the sport but there is no way you're a bike rider!!!!!!!!!!

If your gear lever breaks then there's no way you can change gear, as I've found out to my own disappointment, when my gear lever broke and was hanging off. If I had tried to carry on, I would have been black flagged by the marshalls.

Just seems like you were just using this as an excuse to have a go at a rider you don't like.

Call yourself a fan!!!"

Are you totally unfamiliar with sarcasm? I am a huge spies fan reacting to someone calling it the "Spies excuse machine" on page3. gotta spell it out for some folks, i guess

To all the Haga fans (and don't get me wrong because I respect Haga's abilities) With that being said. I think it is a shame that with all the talent he has he had to get on the best bike out there to do what he is doing now. And I have said this before there 3 or 4 other riders that if they were Haga's teammates Haga would be the #2 rider for Xerox Ducati.

Once again the plane missed the runway, lol the difference here is the rider here sport, get a clue. Are you even familiar with AMA and what Spies had done on the Gixxer Kings Row?
Like I said he's a new rider coming in on new bike, new tires and just lost second this week after all the bad luck and dnf's he had on unfamiliar equipment, like i said just think about what he'd be doing to the field if he were on the familiar gixxer thou. Im not talkin egine specs you read out of a mag im talkin real world results .

hajinu I don't understand your point...Bayliss & Fogarty were on the best bikes for all their titles too. It would be an indictment against Haga if he was not able to put forth the results he has on the proven factory Ducati.

What 3 or 4 riders currently in WSBK would relegate Haga to #2 rider position? Corser? Checa? Biaggi?

Good grief. Is anyone really listening here? Spies has won five races, and *most* of you would say he would have won six had he not ran out of fuel in the first race at Monza. He had just gotten into the lead in the second race at Kyalami when he had a mechanical failure. He was leading at Assen in the second race when he tossed it. He was challenging to take over second place when he made a mistake at Valencia. He has six superpoles and I'd wager your favorite brew he will bring that to seven at Miller. You're seeing history in the making and just don't want to give the kid his due.

Haga is great, no doubt about it, but this championship series could very easily be much closer.
