Yay another round of "he's from US racing series lets hate on him" posts incoming.

I lost count of the number of times the announcers on BBC mentioned his birthplace.

Aside from all that pointless crap, anyone who doesn't think his results in race 1 ALONE deserve a WSBK seat are kidding themselves. He took an uncompetitive bike and got into the top 7!

I believe the WSBK paddock enlightenment relating to the abilities of AMA riders has begun. If race wins are what teams are looking for (rather then a spokesman/PR type riders) I would expect the old euro-guard to start looking over their shoulders as more AMA riders want to leave their home series.

Can someone explain, when they stopped the race, instead of restarting in the position the riders were in at the time, they lined back up, like at the start of the race?...

Hacking was decent, but very reckless...I would like to see mladin in WSBK

RawDawg, agreed that he was always going to ride like it was his last race & he did well.
I'm sure he impressed some people in the team, but that probably caused a few other questions to be asked. This is the second weekend that Broc has been out-qualified & out-raced by a replacement rider that never had much world credibility at he start of the season.
Surely they must be asking what a Smrz or Haslam could be doing on that bike? Consider that Hacking didnt get any offers for the better AMA rides, the question is what would Bostrom / Hodgeson / Hayes / etc do on the bike?

Im thinking Hacking & Morais for the next round, let Broc have a 'rest'!

"Consider that Hacking didnt get any offers for the better AMA rides"

Hacking was a factory Kawaski superbike rider. He was offered the Yamaha ride to partner Bostrom (the ride Josh Hayes has and deserves) but stayed with Kawaski to continue in superbikes. Unfortunately, Kawaski decided to pull the plug in AMA at the last minute with all the DMG nonsense. He is still contracted so they placed him on a Kawaski support team in Daytona superbike (Formula Extreme). That's why he is not in Superbike this year.

Hacking did a class job give him Tamadas seat for the rest of the season, a bit wild tho i think he would settle down if he got another chance. a bit of a bad boy 2 and a personality. WSB needs another villin to go with Max B, Birdy spread your wings an fly Hacker over 2 the next round!!!!! to develop a bad bike it helps if the rider is willing 2 take some chances, and the Hacker is.

I think Hacking was 3rd in the championship last year on the ZX10 - that's why he stayed with Kawaski.

@ RawDawg

I have no arguments about his talent, but he has never been one of the 'top picks' in the AMA.
As for the Yamaha seat ... Yamaha's plan (pre-credit crunch) was to run 2 teams this year - 4 bikes ... so pretty much everyone except me got 'offered' a factory Yamaha ride at some point.

"BSB? Seriously VRob why would he do that?"

Only if he saw it as a potential route to WSBK by making a name for himself outside of the US. And he would have a chance to prove there that his age was no handicap. I don't think any WSBK team is going to take on a 38-year-old without good evidence that he can be competitive at an age where most top level riders have retired.
