I've said it before. I can't see Ben going to MotoGP. It's only logical. Why go to a series where the machinery determines the running order? A boring series at that!

World Superbikes, bar none, is the best to watch, with the best real world riders on the best production based machines.

If you want MotoGP to shine brighter than WSBK, take their traction control down a few notches and bring back the 990 displacement. You know, it's a pleasure to delete the MotoGP races off my DVR these days.

Spies is intelligent and if the logic is clear enough, he'll stay right where he is with Yamaha.

And, thank you, Ben. We are witnessing something beautiful with your skills.

"Moto 2 bikes are as fast as 1000cc bikes with resent tests and will only get quicker. So why not see Spies take the first crown?"

Because first Moto2 is a step down from WSBK - a spec engine class like Moto2 is a feeder series. And who the f**k has every gone from WSBK champion and/or almost champion to 250/Moto2? No one. It's an absolutely ridiculous thought. And secondly no Moto2 team could even afford him.

And Moto2 bikes WILL NOT be faster than WSBK bikes. They may be faster than SOME of the Extreme bikes in Spain and may be close or slightly better on seriously tight tracks but overall WSBK bikes with WSBk riders will be faster. Especially top WSBK riders like Ben.

Here's an alternative view:

I reckon Stoner will tell Ducati where to go and move to Honda. I know he used to crash all the time on a 990 Honda but that was a different beast and it was on Michelins. Likewise, Honda have had it with Pedrosa and will tell him to kindly go away. The question for Ducati is - do they go for Pedrosa or Spies?

I dont think Ducati could get spies or pedrosa atm, after watching hayden and particularly melandri and casey is definately weighing up his options, he said so in an aus column he writes, also why would spies go to moto2 its a step sideways if not backwards i know that they are as quick as 1000's but the talent pool isnt what wsbk is (not saying there arent huge talents in 250, marco simoncelli will stir the pot in motogp next year!)no spies will either be in satelite motogp or stay where he is though i think he will be on a tech 3 yamaha along side Chris Vermeulen next year

they need an overall weight minimum in MotoGP and WSBK, period. Every respected and professional racing series in the world has them except for motorcycles, and it is a joke. Talk about limiting talent!

Larger riders should NOT be penalized, and to whomever said the bikes have enough power for anyone to win, take a simple physics class. When times are within tenths, even hundredths of each other, and every extra HP matters when passing down a strait, 20lbs is a HUGE advantage. I say 150lbs is a happy medium weight

by your logic mr bojangles dani pedrosa should be a three time motogp world champion, the advantage that the smaller guys get in weighed is balanced by their lack of strength compared to bigger riders so they cant throw the bike around as easily, also weight only shows on the straights that are long enough for the bikes to top out its usualy the first guy on the gas and the last guy on the breaks that does well in speed traps

sorry to say rawdog but one of the no name spaniards on a moto2 bike did a time during the race that would have put him in the top 10 on the grid for the wsbk race so they are close for times

hey pal did you read were I said

"They may be faster than SOME of the Extreme bikes in Spain and may be close or slightly better on seriously tight tracks"

I've seen the times of Moto2 bikes. But they don't have 200hp nor can will they get close to 200mph like WSBK. Close on tight and twisty tracks but not so close at fast and flowing. The fast guys in WSBK will be faster than the fast guys in Moto2.

oh i did but i dont think you read what i wrote... you see i was talking about lap times not top speed and i never said they would beat superbikes everywhere, i dont think anyone is stupid enough to believe a proddy 600 engine makes more hp than a superbike, i simply said the lap time of a moto 2 bike on the particular track would have been top ten on the grid in wsbk which is fact, dont understand why everyone lives and dies by hp output on this site, if your only interested in top speed maybe you should watch drag racing or the few tracks where they hit top speed, also flowing tracks require good corner exit speed achieved by throttle control (one of rossi's specialties) not brute hp
