Maybe there has been a drop in budget, which resulted in less winter testing? In WSB Honda spend a lot less than Suzuki and Yamaha who made a big investment this year not just in securing Ben Spies, but also in the new R1. TK is not a works team in the same sense as Suzuki and Yamaha - TK start off with a bike and a kit of parts - the same as the other Honda teams - the Honda works team withdrew from WSB when the control tyre was announced and has been competing in BSB since then, although this year their budget has been severely cut. On top of the above Ben Spies is very special and Crutchlow and Laverty have raised the bar in WSS.

Andrew Pitt can't do enough to ensure that his slim hopes of retaining the World Supersport title continue to the Nurburgring.

More evidence of just how badly Ten Kate have taken their eye off the ball this year.

My own notion is that they are getting too big and taking on too many projects, including Moto 2, and that standards are slipping.

They, as a team, need to get back to basics and remember what got them to where they are in the first place.

Pitt hasn't become a poor rider over the course of a winter!

It would appear that Ten Kate are not bothered with Supersport this year concentrating on Superbike and other projects . The WSS bikes have been off the pace all year and the only way the riders have been able to get points is to ride hard . With you there Racefan .

Some sensible comments about Ten Kate, finally. I was starting to think that I was alone.

It's a real shame. With usual Ten Kate performance both Kenan and Pitt would've been right in the frame for the title. It could've been fantastic with all 4 riders (Cal, Eugene, Kenan and Pitt) gunning for championship victory.

I agree with the rest of you. It's hard to believe Pitt went from front runner in nearly every race last year to struggling this year. That said, good point made about Crutchlow and Laverty, they are above the rest in ability and have really raised the bar. 2008 had loads of WSS races where the winner wasn't known until the final lap, granted we have seen a few good ones this year (like Brno), but it's simply not the same.
One thing's for sure Laverty has shown the issue with Pitt is not the Honda per se, definitely something not up to par with the Ten Kate garage.
