No-one has yet had the right equipment to achieve any success with the BMW. To ride the bike as BMW intended, Marco needs a beard, a pipe, and a Belstaff waxed jacket.

don't watch sbk much but i thought melandri was stellar in 2011 on the yam. why in the name of baby jesus did he switch?? bmw is the suzuki of sbk, it's been shown time and again. leon haslam was on fire till HE made the switch. it's obviously for the money. i also suspect the germans have their head up their a r s e.

BMW got their fingers burnt in F1, which must have stung. The fact that they are still here in WSB suggests they still believe they can turn this around. The only problem seems to be that they have two riders in the Casey Stoner mould of "twist the throttle and sort it out when it slides".

"One of the priorities will be to keep up the team morale when things don't go well."

From Melandri, the emotional rollercoaster of international motorcycle racing!! Brilliant quote.

In all seriousness though, Marco is a real talent when he is on it, and I love watching him when he's on it. It's all about confidence with Marco and he came straight in on the R1 and was quick instantly. I hope he goes well on the beemer, he is as talented as Max & Checa, he can be champion if the bike is up to it.

After a learning curve - this just might be BMW's year, for sure the road going version is outstanding.

BMW are serious and their rider selections confirms that

For sure they have the funding + engineering to make it happen

Good luck Marco Hedgehog.

Oi! Tetley What is wrong with a beard and a pipe?
The waxed jacket is an Aussie made Kakadu.
some Son of a scoundrel stole my Belstaff jacket.

Happy new year to all.
