Corona to promote WSBK in nightclubs

14 November 2004

With the recent announcement that Corona will be sponsoring the World Superbike Championship next season, Patricia Batta, marketing manager for the Corona brand and Alstare Suzuki, has explained that one of the main aims of the partnership is to increase the appeal of the WSBK series among non-biking fans.

"We wanted to support the series because we (Alstare) and Corona believe in the product," began Patricia, speaking during an exclusive interview with Crash.net. "There is not only a financial support but we hope to produce an incentive to all the countries we are going to, to push people to come to the races."

This new drive to target customers to come to races occurs just as the championship is going through an upsurge in popularity this season, something which FG Sport and Corona hope to increase further in 2005.

Patricia announced that there will be a great deal of publicity for the championship, using the Corona brand, before the series arrives to a country for its races. One of the ways this will be done is by advertising Corona and the WSBK logo in nightclubs around the world.

"There will be a huge amount spent in promotion before the races before we arrive," commented Patricia. "We hope to increase attendance and TV coverage by opening up the championships to new TV channels."

FG Sport and Corona hope that next season, with its new international rounds confirmed in Brno and Qatar, will attract more viewers to the championship. This, coupled with the likely challenge from the Japanese four-cylinder machines to the dominance of Ducati, means 2005 looks set to be one of the most enjoyable seasons yet.
