Bayliss: Barros will definitely shock people

Ducati Xerox star Troy Bayliss is tipping his former Camel Honda MotoGP team-mate, Alex Barros, to "shock a few people" after making the switch to World Superbikes for this season.

When asked about his 2006 rivals Bayliss - the Qatar pole sitter - told Crash.net Radio: "Of course Troy Corser will be very strong this year, because he's the reigning champion, so I expect him to probably be the most consistent guy out there - but also Alex Barros is definitely going to shock a few people, that's for sure.

"I know that because I was Alex's team-mate, but everybody knows how strong Alex is. He was the most experienced guy in GP; he'd been there for 16 or 17 years - it's incredible - and we know how many Suzuka 8 Hours he's taken part in, so he obviously knows how to ride a Superbike.

"I've a lot of respect for the guy and we're going to see plenty if him," the 2001 WSBK championship concluded.

After only one shakedown test prior to this weekend, Barros - a seven times 500cc/MotoGP race winner - qualified tenth on the grid for tomorrow's two races in Qatar.
