PICTURES: Kurtis highsides

Former MotoGP rider and AMA Superbike race winner Kurtis Roberts had a tough introduction to World Superbikes at Brands Hatch, being forced to miss the first free practice session due to 'licence problems' then highsiding heavily during qualifying (pictured).

The American, who went on to qualify 27th and last, fortunately escaped major injury when he tumbled from his Team Pedercini run 999RS, although his reduced physical condition later contributed to a double DNF on race day.

Kurtis will hope for much better luck in the next round of the 2006 Corona Extra championship, at Assen on September 3.
