Racing stars as successful off-track as on

Two World Superbike legends have proved as much of a hit off the race track as on it, getting together to raise more than £4,000 for Children In Need with an end-of-season charity auction.

Troy Corser and Frankie Chili were the star turns at the evening, hosted by Burning 2 Learn, an organisation that brings secondary school and college students into the paddock to teach them the importance of pursuing their education and motivate them into achieving their full academic potential.

The event was attended by more than 120 people including past and present Burning 2 Learn students, teachers and Superbike fans.

Among the items going under the hammer was motorcycling memorabilia such as Chili's last-ever pair of race boots, race gloves and a visor from Corser, bike seats from James Toseland and Chris Walker and, away from the racing world, an autographed David Beckham photograph and Wayne Rooney cap.

“I can't thank people enough for the support they have given throughout the years to Burning 2 Learn students, and to all who contributed on the evening,” commented a delighted Burning 2 Learn managing director Alan Dean. “A special thank you must also go to our friends Frankie Chili and Troy Corser and their families for their continuous support and for believing in us.”
